At long last, Nintendo gives us a good and long look at the new entry in the Legend of Zelda franchise as well as the title.
The trailer was a bit of a tease with a pre-rendered intro to the environments that differed from the gameplay, but we can’t be sure if that was a design choice or if the gameplay isn’t graphically finished yet, but it was breathtaking nonetheless.
The world is filled with wildlife and enemies giving it a feeling that of a real place. Parts of the environment can be manipulated to your needs, such as a boulder being dropped down on enemies, and you can fight using tools and weapons Link has never previously used, such as spears and more.
There was even a voice over at the start that we can only assume is Zelda, just don’t touch our Link unless it is perfect. With such a fleshed out world all the chat could say was, “RIP Skyrim Remastered.”
The entire day of Tuesday’s Nintendo Treehouse event at E3 was dedicated to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The game is slated for release in March 2017.
This event is still live and on-going, and updates will be concurrent as more information is available.
